Primary Left Atrial Intimal Sarcoma Disguised as Functional Mitral Stenosis: A Case Study

A 66-year-old female with a 1-month history of increasing fatigue, dyspnea on exertion, and palpitations presented clinical signs heart failure. Chest computed tomography (CT) revealed large, mobile left atrial (LA) mass attached to the mitral valve causing severe stenosis regurgitation. The was surgically debulked replaced. Pathology poorly differentiated malignant spindle cell neoplasm diffuse nuclear positivity MDM2 multifocal CDK4, consistent intimal sarcoma. This case seeks describe an uncommon presentation rare malignancy, surgical medical management disease.

Intimal sarcomas are a very rare medical entity and usually arise from the pulmonary artery or the thoracic aorta. Sarcomas should be considered in the differential diagnosis in patients with suspected mitral valve disease.
